Pulseman is a fast-paced action platformer developed by Game Freak and released for the Sega Genesis in 1994. Playing as a half-human, half-digital hero who can channel electricity, you battle the Cyber Terrorism organization Galaxy. The game stands out with its vibrant, anime-inspired visuals and unique mechanics centered around building up and unleashing electrical energy.
How to play
The objective is to navigate through various digital and physical stages, defeating enemies and bosses to stop the evil Doc Yoshiyama. Control Pulseman using the arrow keys (โโโโ) to move. Press Z (Genesis C) to jump, X (Genesis B) to attack, and S (Genesis A) to use a special dash. By running continuously or dashing, Pulseman builds a static charge. Once charged, he can unleash a Volteccer attackโa powerful electrical spark that bounces off wallsโor shoot an energy beam. Press Enter (Start) to pause.
Tips
- Master the Volteccer attack; it grants temporary invincibility and is essential for bouncing up narrow shafts or traveling through wire paths.
- Avoid jumping into water when fully charged, as it will ground your electricity and remove your Volteccer state.
- Keep moving to maintain your electrical charge, but be careful not to dash recklessly into off-screen hazards.
