Psycho Soldier is a classic arcade action-platformer released by SNK in 1987. Serving as a spiritual successor to Athena, the game introduces players to schoolgirl Athena Asamiya and her friend Sie Kensou as they fight waves of mutant monsters using their latent psychic abilities. The game is notable for being one of the first arcade titles to feature a fully vocalised pop soundtrack that plays during the action.
How to play
Using the standard arcade configuration, use the arrow keys to move and the Z and X keys to attack and jump. The goal is to survive the side-scrolling stages by shooting psychic projectiles, breaking blocks to find power-ups, and defeating the boss at the end of each area.
Tips
Collect the Psycho Energy orbs hidden inside breakable blocks. Gathering enough orbs will surround your character with rotating spheres that act as a defensive shield and upgrade your main attack. Be mindful of your positioning when destroying blocks above you, as falling debris can crush your character if you don’t dodge in time.
