Power Spikes II is an arcade volleyball game released in 1994 by Video System for the Neo Geo MVS. Serving as the sequel to Super Volleyball, it offers both standard Men’s and Women’s leagues alongside a futuristic Hyper League, where robotic players wear heavy armor and unleash devastating special attacks. The game is known for its fast-paced, side-view perspective and reflex-heavy sports action.
How to Play
The objective is to score points by successfully grounding the ball on the opponent’s side of the court. You control a team of six on a 2D plane, navigating the fast-paced rallies.
- Movement: Arcade joystick (mapped to Arrow keys in the browser) to position your players.
- Receive / Spike / Block: Button A (mapped to Z or A) is your primary action button for digging the ball, jumping to attack, and blocking at the net. Press twice to serve.
- Lethal Maneuver: Button B (mapped to X or S) is used specifically in the Hyper League to activate your team’s special power spikes.
- Insert Coin / Start: Use Shift to insert coins and Enter to start.
Tips
- Master the timing: Anticipating where the ball will land and hitting the action button exactly as the ball flashes is key to perfect receives and sets.
- Use specials strategically: In Hyper mode, save your Lethal Maneuvers for critical moments. They are much harder for the opponent to return and can quickly shift momentum in a close match.
