Pomping World (widely known internationally as Pang or Buster Bros.) is a classic 1989 arcade action-puzzle game developed by Mitchell Corporation. You travel around the globe to famous landmarks—like Mount Fuji and the Taj Mahal—with a single objective: clear the skies of bouncing balloons before time runs out. Armed with an upward-firing harpoon, you must carefully split each balloon into smaller ones until they are completely destroyed, all while dodging them to survive.

How to Play

Move your character left and right across the bottom of the screen and fire your harpoon straight up to pop the bouncing balloons. Every time a large balloon is hit, it splits into two smaller, faster ones. Keep splitting them until they pop completely. The arcade controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the arrow keys to move and the action button (typically Z, X, or Space) to shoot. The game can also be played in two-player cooperative mode.

Tips

• Watch your positioning: Stand slightly off to the side when popping a large balloon so the two smaller balloons don’t bounce directly onto your head.
• Use power-ups wisely: Grab the twin harpoons to fire two shots at once, or the grappling hook which stays attached to the ceiling until a balloon hits it. The time-freezing clock is a lifesaver in crowded stages.
• Clear the bottom first: Focus on destroying the lowest bouncing balloons first, as they pose the most immediate threat to your character.
