Pocket Monsters Eun (Korea) is the official Korean localization of Pokémon Silver Version, released for the Game Boy Color on April 24, 2002 by distributor Daiwon C.I. — the first Pokémon game ever officially released in South Korea, arriving nearly two and a half years after the original Japanese Gold and Silver debut. Like Pokémon Crystal, the cartridge requires Game Boy Color hardware to render its Korean text and won’t run on an original Game Boy. Developed by Game Freak, this Generation II role-playing game sends players through the Johto region to catch and train Pokémon, challenge eight Gym Leaders, and take on the Elite Four.
How to Play
Explore Johto, battle wild and trainer Pokémon, and build a team of six to work your way through the region’s eight Gym Leaders and the Pokémon League. Beat the Champion and a boat trip opens up the original Kanto region for a full second adventure.
- Arrow keys — move your character
- Z — A button (confirm, interact, choose in battle)
- X — B button (cancel, run from menus)
- Enter — Start (open the menu)
- Shift — Select (use a registered item)
Tips
- Generation II added a real-time day/night cycle that affects evolution — level up a high-friendship Eevee during the day to get Espeon, or at night for Umbreon.
- Some Pokémon only evolve by trading while holding a specific item, like a King’s Rock or Metal Coat, so hang onto rare held items instead of selling them.
- Don’t stop at the credits: beating the Elite Four and Champion unlocks the entire Kanto region, with rematches against all eight of the original Gym Leaders.
