Pinobee for the PlayStation (2002) is a colourful 2D platformer developed by Artoon that brings the robotic bee’s high-speed adventures to the home console. You play as Pinobee, an incomplete robotic insect on a quest to rescue his kidnapped creator, Grandpa. Built around momentum and mid-air traversal, the game challenges you to navigate vibrant, branching levels using a unique directional dash mechanic.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage, uncovering items and finding alternate routes that can influence the game’s ending. Since Pinobee cannot fly freely, you must chain together mid-air dashes to cross gaps and defeat enemies.
- D-pad (Arrow Keys): Move Pinobee
- Cross (X key): Jump / Dash (press again in mid-air to dash)
- Square (S key): Attack
- Start (Enter): Pause
Tips
- Chain your dashes: You can execute multiple dashes before touching the ground. Use this to maintain momentum, bounce off enemies, and reach high platforms.
- Take the high road: Levels feature multiple branching paths. Upper routes are usually more challenging to reach but contain better items and crucial power-ups.
