Paperboy is the classic arcade hit ported to the Sega Master System in 1990. You take on the role of a neighborhood paperboy tasked with successfully delivering the Daily Sun to subscribers over a gruelling seven-day week. Riding your bicycle up an isometric street, you must toss newspapers into mailboxes or onto porches of subscribing homes while deliberately vandalizing the houses of non-subscribers, all while dodging an absurd array of suburban hazards.
How to play
Your goal is to maintain your subscriber base. Delivering papers to a subscriber keeps them happy, while missing a delivery or breaking their windows will cause them to cancel. Throwing papers at non-subscribers’ windows earns you extra points. Survive the street to reach the training course at the end of each day.
For the Sega Master System, use the D-pad (Arrow Keys) to steer your bike, control your speed, and maneuver around obstacles. Press Button 1 or Button 2 (Z or X) to throw a newspaper.
Tips
- Keep moving, but control your speed. Pedaling faster makes you harder to hit but gives you less time to react to sudden obstacles like cars, dogs, and breakdancers.
- You can carry a limited number of newspapers. Look for the bundled newspaper pickups scattered along the street to refill your supply.
