Paperboy 2 is an action game developed by Tengen and released for the SNES in 1991. Continuing the classic isometric paper route formula, players ride their bicycle through eccentric neighborhoods to deliver the daily news. The sequel expands the neighborhood to both sides of the street and introduces the choice to play as either a Paperboy or Papergirl. You must keep your subscribers happy by accurately landing papers in their mailboxes or on their porches while dodging bizarre hazards like gargoyles, runaway tires, and angry dogs.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the end of the week without losing all your subscribers or your lives. Throw papers into subscribers’ mailboxes to keep them, and intentionally smash the windows of non-subscribers for bonus points. The controls use the arrow keys to pedal, steer, and brake, while the action buttons (Z and X) toss newspapers to the left or right side of the street.
Tips
- Keep your speed manageable; racing ahead makes it much harder to dodge sudden obstacles like backing cars or rolling trash cans.
- You can regain lost subscribers by successfully delivering papers to every remaining subscriber on your route and performing well on the end-of-level obstacle course.
- Practice tossing diagonally; it’s often the safest way to hit a mailbox without riding too close to yard hazards.
