Paperboy 2 is an arcade-style action game published by Tengen for the Sega Genesis in 1991. Like the original, you ride a bicycle through suburban neighborhoods, tossing the Daily Sun newspaper onto subscribers’ porches while dodging traffic, runaway lawnmowers, and neighborhood dogs. Unlike the first game, you can now play as a papergirl and deliver papers to houses on both sides of the street, making your route much more hectic.
How to play
Your goal is to maintain your subscribers by landing papers perfectly in their mailboxes or on their porches while avoiding damage to their homes. You earn points by vandalizing non-subscribers’ housesโlike breaking their windows with stray papersโand knocking out obstacles in your path.
Use the arrow keys to steer your bicycle, control your speed, and maneuver around hazards. Press the S, X, or Z keys to throw papers to the left or right, depending on which side of the street you are currently facing. If you run out of papers, keep an eye out for bundled refills scattered along the route.
Tips
- Focus on maintaining your subscribers first; breaking windows for points is fun but losing too many customers will end your run early.
- Keep your speed moderate. Racing at full speed makes it nearly impossible to dodge sudden obstacles like rolling tires or backing cars.
- Don’t hesitate to throw papers at hazardsโmany enemies can be stunned or knocked down if you hit them directly.
