Pang Bootleg Set 5 is an unlicensed arcade release of Pang, the single-screen puzzle-action game Mitchell Corporation put in arcades in 1989. Running on unofficial hardware, this bootleg keeps the original’s core idea intact: fire a harpoon straight up to pop bouncing balloons before they crowd you off the screen, working your way through stages set in real-world cities across the globe.
How to Play
Clear every balloon from the screen to advance. Each balloon you hit splits into two smaller, faster ones, which keep splitting until they’re small enough to pop for good — touch a balloon at any size and you lose a life. Some stages have ropes; climb one to reach higher platforms and get a better angle on balloons bouncing below.
- Movement: Arrow Keys
- Shoot: Z or X
- Start: Enter
- Insert Coin: Shift
Tips
- Large balloons bounce high and slow, while their smaller splits bounce low and fast — adjust your timing as each one breaks apart rather than firing on a fixed rhythm.
- Grab the clock power-up whenever it drops; it freezes every balloon on screen for a few seconds, giving you a free window to clear multiple splits at once.
- On stages with ropes, climbing above a crowded cluster lets you fire down into its bounce path instead of dodging it from below.
