Pang (also released in North America as Buster Bros.) is Mitchell Corporation’s 1989 single-screen arcade classic, and this “Bootleg Set 4” is an unlicensed PCB dump of that same game, preserved here for browser play. Armed with nothing but a harpoon gun, you clear each screen by popping bouncing bubbles before one touches you — every bubble you hit splits into two smaller ones, so a screen that opens with a few giant balloons quickly fills with bouncing fragments unless you stay ahead of them.
How to Play
The goal on every screen is the same: pop every bubble without letting one touch you. Your harpoon fires straight up, and its line sticks briefly to the ceiling or a platform above — climbing that line to reach higher ledges is Pang’s signature trick and the key to surviving the busier, later screens. Occasional bonus items appear on screen and are worth grabbing if they’re on your path, but never at the cost of a clean escape route.
- Move / climb harpoon line: Arrow Keys
- Fire harpoon: Z
- Insert coin: Shift
- Start: Enter
Tips
- Pop large bubbles from directly beneath them so the two halves bounce apart from you rather than toward you.
- Clear a screen from one side first instead of the middle — it keeps an escape route open as the bubble count grows.
- Climb the harpoon line as soon as a screen gets crowded; height is usually safer than staying on the ground.
