Game description:

Developed by Marionette and published by Coconuts Japan, Pachinko Time is a 1989 parlor simulation and notably the very first post-launch Japan-exclusive title for the original Game Boy. Players explore a virtual pachinko parlor, sitting down at different machines to try and exhaust their payout base. Although the menus are entirely in Japanese, the core simulation relies on simple mechanics and physics that are easy enough to grasp without needing to read the text.

How to Play

Your goal is to successfully drain the payout from three different machines, which then allows you to progress to a new parlor with a fresh set of layouts. Because this is an early Game Boy release, the simulation is straightforward: use the D-pad (arrow keys) to navigate the parlor and choose your machine. Once playing, use the A and B buttons (Z and X on your keyboard) to control the launch strength of your silver balls and fire them onto the pin-filled board. Press Start (Enter) to pause or access menus.

Tips

  • Find the Sweet Spot: The key to winning is discovering the exact launch strength that consistently drops balls into the center payout pockets, then leaving the power dial untouched.
  • Mind Your Credits: It is easy to burn through your initial balls if you fire continuously without hitting any winning pockets. Use short bursts until you find a reliable firing angle.
