Out Run is a legendary 1986 arcade driving game originally developed by Sega. Known for its smooth pseudo-3D “Super Scaler” graphics and iconic soundtrack, you race against the clock in a red sports car, choosing your own route through branching scenic stages. This version is an unofficial arcade bootleg of the original release.
How to Play
The objective is to reach one of the five possible finish lines before the timer runs out. Passing through a checkpoint at the end of each stage extends your time. In the browser, use the arrow keys to steer, and use the Z, X, and C keys to accelerate, brake, and shift between high and low gears.
Tips
- Master the gears: Stay in high gear as much as possible. Only downshift to low gear when recovering from a crash or if you need to take an exceptionally sharp corner.
- Choose your route wisely: At the end of each stage, the road forks. The left paths are generally easier and more forgiving, while the right paths offer significantly harder driving challenges.
- Traffic management: Brushing against the sides of other cars will heavily reduce your speed. Try to overtake them cleanly rather than scraping by.
