Operation Wolf 3 is a light gun arcade shooter released by Taito in 1994, developed by East Technology. Despite the title, it has little connection to the earlier Operation Wolf games beyond the name and gun-style controls: a terrorist group called SKULL has seized an island armed with nuclear missiles, and two agents, codenamed Hornet and Queen Bee, are sent in to take them down. The game is also the only entry in the series to use digitized photographic graphics rather than hand-drawn sprites, giving it a look closer to Konami’s Lethal Enforcers than its own predecessors.
How to Play
Move through five stages â Warehouse, Freeway, Wasteland, Silo, and a final missile-interception stage â shooting down SKULL’s forces before they overwhelm you. In this browser version, aim with your mouse and hold the left mouse button to fire; unlike the original Operation Wolf, ammo is unlimited and the gun fires automatically for as long as the trigger is held. Use the right mouse button to trigger a bomb, of which you can carry up to three at once, to clear tougher waves of enemies.
Tips
- Save your bombs for chokepoints: with only three in reserve at a time, hold them for the moments enemies flood the screen at once rather than spending them on single targets.
- Keep the trigger down in open areas: since ammo never runs out, there’s no reason to tap-fire â sustained automatic fire clears crowds of enemies faster than aiming for single precise shots.
