Operation Thunderbolt is a classic arcade light-gun shooter released by Taito in 1988. As the sequel to the legendary Operation Wolf, this game steps up the action by introducing two-player cooperative play. You take on the roles of special forces operatives Roy Adams and Hardy Jones, embarking on a high-stakes mission to rescue hostages from a hijacked airliner in a hostile territory. The game is known for its relentless pace, challenging enemy waves, and iconic scrolling rail-shooter gameplay.
How to Play
Your objective is to shoot your way through multiple enemy-infested stages, conserve your limited ammunition, and safely rescue the hostages without catching them in the crossfire. You will face infantry, vehicles, and challenging boss encounters.
Arcade Controls (Browser):
- Insert Coin: Shift (or Select)
- Start: Enter (or Start)
- Move/Aim: Arrow Keys
- Fire: Z
- Rocket / Special: X
Tips
- Watch Your Fire: Hostages appear frequently during firefights. Shooting them will penalize your health, so aim carefully when the screen gets crowded.
- Manage Ammunition: Your bullets and rockets are limited. Shoot the ammo and health pickups that appear on the screen to stay supplied.
- Prioritize Targets: Take out enemy vehicles and rocket-launching infantry first, as they deal the most damage and are harder to dodge.
