Ninja Jajamaru – Ginga Daisakusen is a 1991 action-platformer developed by Jaleco for the NES. Breaking away from the arena-combat roots of the earlier Jajamaru-kun titles, this galactic adventure plays much more like a traditional side-scrolling platformer. You can choose to play as either Jajamaru or Princess Sakura, traveling across different planetary themes to defeat the evil Don Deca.
How to Play
The objective is to reach the end of each stage while avoiding hazards and defeating enemies by jumping on them. Use the Arrow keys to move, Z to jump, and hold X to dash. By holding down the dash button, you can build up speed to sprint, which is essential for making longer jumps. Holding the dash button down for a sustained period also allows you to perform a somersault attack that grants temporary invulnerability. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- Look for item blocks that can be hit from below or stomped from above to reveal power-ups like the bouncing Special Star or a protective space suit.
- The game uses a strict one-hit kill system unless you have a suit equipped, so maintaining a safe distance and timing your jumps carefully is crucial.
- Beware of environmental hazards specific to certain planets; for example, standing still too long on the fire planet will cause you to take damage.
