Nastar Warrior is the North American arcade release of Taito’s 1988 side-scrolling hack-and-slash platformer, known in Japan as Rastan Saga II and in Europe simply as Nastar. It’s the direct sequel to Rastan, once again casting you as the barbarian Rastan as he cuts his way through the demon-plagued kingdom of Rastania to bring down an evil sorcerer.
How to Play
Fight through six rounds, each split between an open outdoor stretch and a castle hall guarded by a boss. Swing your sword to cut down monsters and time your jumps to clear platforms and hazards along the way. Beat the final round in a two-player game and the two heroes must duel each other to settle who is Rastania’s true champion.
Controls
- Arrow Keys â move / climb
- Z â attack (swing sword)
- X â jump
- Enter â Start
- Shift â Insert Coin
Tips
- You can angle Rastan’s sword swing by holding a direction as you attack, letting you hit enemies above, below, or diagonally instead of only straight ahead.
- Jump height depends on how you combine the stick with the jump button, so you can control small hops versus full leaps to clear pits and dodge attacks.
