NASCAR Rumble is a PlayStation racer published by EA Sports in 2000 that takes the NASCAR license somewhere the mainline sim games never went: full-contact arcade combat. Instead of oval-track realism, it puts stock cars on off-road-flavored circuits with jumps and shortcuts and arms drivers with weapon and speed pickups to use on each other mid-race, closer in spirit to a kart-combat game than to a NASCAR simulation.
How to Play
The goal is the usual one â finish races ahead of the field â but positioning is only half the job here, since a well-timed weapon pickup can take out a rival car outright. The default web emulator controls map the PlayStation’s D-pad to your keyboard’s arrow keys for steering, with the face buttons (Cross, Circle, Square, Triangle) corresponding to Z, X, A, and S, and Enter functioning as Start.
Tips
- Grab pickups on the racing line: weapons and boosts are laid out along the track, so route your line to sweep them up without losing speed rather than detouring for them.
- Save offense for tight packs: attacks land more often â and matter more â when several cars are bunched together than when you’re isolated out front or in last.
