Mr. Driller is a fast-paced puzzle action game developed by Namco and released for the PlayStation in 2000. Players guide the protagonist, Susumu Hori, as he burrows down through a vibrant subterranean world made of destructible, colorful blocks, racing against a constantly depleting air supply.
How to Play
The objective is to descend as deep as possible by drilling through blocks. Blocks of the same color link together and disappear when four or more touch. You must continuously collect air capsules to replenish Susumu’s oxygen. On the web-based PlayStation emulator, the default controls use the arrow keys to move and the Z or X keys to drill in the direction you are facing.
Tips
- Watch for chain reactions: Destroying a block that supports others will cause them to fall, which can create helpful combos or fatally crush Susumu.
- Beware of X blocks: Drilling the brown “X” blocks penalizes you by draining 20% of your air. Wait for them to disappear when matching blocks fall, or navigate around them.
