Game description:

The Money Game is a Japanese-exclusive stock market and life simulation game developed by SOFEL and released for the NES (Famicom) in 1988. Acting as an investor starting with 1,000,000 yen, you aim to grow your wealth by buying and selling stocks using in-game tools like a virtual newspaper and telephone. As your finances improve, you can upgrade your apartment, find a girlfriend, and eventually get married. Historically significant as the predecessor to Wall Street Kid, the game requires reading financial news and navigating text-heavy menus in Japanese.

How to Play

Your objective is to successfully invest your initial capital in the stock market to amass wealth and improve your standard of living. Play using the standard NES controls in your browser: the arrow keys act as the D-pad to navigate menus, Z and X correspond to the A and B buttons for making selections and canceling, while Enter and Shift serve as Start and Select.

Tips

  • Pay close attention to the virtual newspaper and news reports; they contain vital clues about which stocks are about to rise or fall.
  • Balance your stock trading with your personal life, as reaching milestones like upgrading your home is necessary for overall progression.
