Mappy is a classic 1983 arcade platformer developed by Namco that casts you as a brave micro-police mouse tasked with recovering stolen loot. Navigating a multi-story mansion, you must outsmart a gang of thieving cats known as the Meowkies and their boss, Goro, while collecting valuables like electronics, paintings, and safes.
How to Play: The objective is to collect all the stolen items in each level to advance. Rather than jumping, Mappy moves between the mansion’s floors by bouncing on trampolines; you are safe from enemies while in the air. You can defend yourself by opening and closing doors to knock down or stun the pursuing cats, or by using special microwave doors to sweep them away. For default arcade controls in your browser, use the arrow keys to move and the Z or X keys to open and close doors.
Tips:
- Try to collect pairs of identical items back-to-back; this significantly multiplies your score.
- Trampolines change colour each time you bounce on them. If a trampoline turns red, you must step off onto a floor, or it will break on the next bounce.
- Goro occasionally hides behind the stolen items. Collecting an item while he is hiding behind it grants a 1,000-point bonus.
