Maniac Mansion is a pioneering graphic adventure game developed by Lucasfilm Games and released for DOS in 1987. Built on the revolutionary SCUMM engine, it tasks you with guiding Dave Miller and two friends into the bizarre Edison family mansion to rescue Dave’s girlfriend, Sandy, from a meteor-controlled Dr. Fred. The game’s innovative multi-character system means puzzles can be solved in entirely different ways depending on which teenagers you bring along.
How to play
Your objective is to explore the mansion, solve character-specific puzzles, and find Sandy without getting caught by the Edisons. Point and click on the verbs at the bottom of the screen to interact with the environment.

Tips
- Pick your team carefully: Each teenager has unique skills. Bernard can repair electronics, while Syd and Razor can play musical instruments, completely changing how you solve certain puzzles.
- Beware of the dungeon: If a family member catches one of your characters, they will be thrown in the dungeon. You can use another character to rescue them.
- Save often: Unlike later LucasArts games, characters can actually die in Maniac Mansion, which can make the game unwinnable if you lose the wrong team member.
