Krusty’s Fun House is a 1992 puzzle-platformer for DOS, developed by Audiogenic, that casts you as the famous Simpsons clown on a mission to rid his fun house of a rat infestation. Rather than a straight action game, it plays out as an intricate puzzle reminiscent of Lemmings. You must navigate each room, place blocks, and manipulate the environment to guide the mindless, marching rodents into extermination machines operated by familiar characters like Bart and Homer.
How to play
You control Krusty, running and jumping through the levels to gather and place blocks. Your goal is to construct a safe, continuous path that leads the rats directly into the traps. Krusty can defend himself against other roaming hazards by throwing pies, but the rats themselves will blindly march forward, turning around only when they hit an obstacle. For DOS, movement is typically handled by the arrow keys, while action keys let you throw pies and manipulate blocks.
Tips
- The rats cannot be hurt by the other enemies in the fun house, so focus your pie-throwing on protecting Krusty rather than guarding the rodents.
- Be careful where you place blocks; it is very easy to accidentally box yourself in or block the only path to the trap, forcing a room restart.
- Look for secret areas hidden behind false walls, which often contain extra pies, health-restoring items, or 1-Ups.
