Keroppi to Keroriinu no Splash Bomb! is an action-puzzle game released for the Famicom in 1993. Developed by Geo Factory and published by Character Soft, it features Sanrio’s popular character Keroppi on a mission to rescue his friend Keroleen. The game is notable for being the final Sanrio-licensed title released on the system.
How to play
The gameplay is heavily inspired by Bomberman. You navigate maze-like rooms by placing water bombs to clear paths and defeat enemies. However, there is a unique twist: Keroppi cannot be hurt by his own bombs. Instead, the explosions create water currents that can push you into enemies or hazards. Use the D-pad (Arrow keys) to move and the A or B buttons (Z or X keys) to drop bombs.
Tips
- Since your own bombs cannot damage you, you can safely drop them at point-blank range to break blocks quickly.
- Be mindful of the water currents your bombs create, as they can inadvertently slide you directly into moving enemies.
