Game description:

Play Karate Champ, the pioneering 1984 arcade fighting game published by Data East. As one of the earliest entries in the martial arts genre, this classic title tasks you with competing in a series of one-on-one karate matches, dodging and striking to outscore your opponent and prove your martial arts mastery.

How to Play

Win matches by landing successful strikes against your opponent to score points. A full point (Ippon) or two half-points (Waza-ari) wins the round. Standard arcade browser controls apply: press 5 to insert a coin and 1 to start. Use the Arrow Keys for movement and your primary action keys (typically Z, X, or C) to attack and defend.

Tips

  • Timing and distance are critical; wait for your opponent to step into range before committing to a strike.
  • Vary your attacks between high and low to bypass your opponent’s guard.
