Originally an arcade hit by Data East, Joe & Mac (also known as Caveman Ninja) is a classic side-scrolling platformer brought to the Sega Genesis. Playing as the green-haired Joe or the blue-haired Mac, you battle your way through prehistoric landscapes filled with dinosaurs, pterodactyls, and rival Neanderthals to rescue the kidnapped women of your village. The game stands out for its colorful graphics, humorous animations, and a variety of wild prehistoric weapons like stone wheels, boomerangs, and fire.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each level and defeat a large boss to rescue a cavewoman. You can find different weapons by breaking open dinosaur eggs. You can also hold down the attack button to charge up a larger, more powerful projectile.
- Move / Duck / Aim: Arrow Keys
- Jump: X
- Attack / Charge Weapon: Z
- Start: Enter
Tips
- Charge carefully: A charged attack deals massive damage to bosses, but leaving it charged for too long leaves you exhausted and vulnerable.
- Manage your health: Your health bar constantly drains over time. Grab the meat and fruit scattered throughout the levels or inside eggs to restore it.
- Choose the right weapon: The stone wheel rolls along the ground and up walls, making it great for ground enemies, while the boomerang can hit multiple times on its return trip.
