Joe & Mac: Caveman Ninja is a vibrant prehistoric platformer brought to the NES by Data East in 1992. Playing as a green or blue-haired caveman, you set out to rescue your kidnapped tribeswomen from a rival group of Neanderthals and an array of aggressive dinosaurs. The arcade port manages to retain the bright, colorful art style and varied weaponry of the original, giving players stone axes, boomerangs, and bone clubs to hurl at everything from pterodactyls to towering T-Rex bosses.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage while rescuing the cavewomen and defeating the boss. In the browser emulator, use the Arrow Keys to move, crouch, and aim up. Press Z to jump and X to attack. Enter is Start and Shift is Select.
Tips
- Your health bar constantly depletes over time. Grab every piece of fruit and meat dropped by enemies to stay alive.
- Hold down the attack button to charge up a larger, more powerful projectile, but be careful as overcharging will leave you temporarily exhausted.
- Jumping on top of regular enemies can stun or damage them, which is useful when you need to conserve your weapon attacks or reposition.
