JJ: Tobidase Daisakusen Part 2 (also known as JJ: The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner Part II) is a high-speed, forward-scrolling platformer developed by Square and released for the Famicom (NES) in 1987. Serving as the direct sequel to The 3-D Battles of WorldRunner, this Japan-exclusive title pushes its pseudo-3D engine further with a darker sci-fi atmosphere, faster gameplay, and significantly higher difficulty. Thanks to an English translation patch by DvD, players can now fully experience this fast-paced action in English.
How to Play
You must constantly move forward across checkered landscapes, jumping over bottomless pits and dodging hostile alien creatures before your timer runs out. Use the D-pad (mapped to the Arrow keys) to steer left and right, and press the A or B buttons (Z or X) to jump and fire your laser missiles to clear a path. Press Start (Enter) to begin or pause the game.
Tips
- Your forward momentum never stops, so you must anticipate gaps and commit to your jumps well in advance.
- Prioritize avoiding obstacles and pitfalls over defeating every enemy on screen.
- Collect power-ups like springs and missiles to improve your jump height and offensive capabilities, which are essential for surviving the incredibly fast later worlds.
