Game description:

Hyper Olympic (released internationally as Track & Field) is the pioneering 1983 arcade sports game by Konami that defined the button-mashing genre. Players compete across six track and field eventsโ€”including the 100-meter dash, long jump, javelin, 110-meter hurdles, hammer throw, and high jumpโ€”testing their raw speed and timing to qualify for the next round.

How to play

To build speed, you must alternate rapidly between the two run buttons. When approaching a jump, hurdle, or throw, use the action button and hold it to set the correct angle or timing. In the browser, Arcade games typically map Coin to Shift and Start to Enter, with the core action buttons on Z, X, and C.

Tips

  • In the long jump and javelin events, aim to release at an angle as close to 45 degrees as possible to maximize your distance.
  • During the hammer throw, your athlete builds speed automatically. Focus on timing your release exactly when facing the field to avoid a foul.
  • For the 110-meter hurdles, jump just as you reach each hurdle; jumping too early or trying to clear multiple hurdles will break your momentum.
