Hot Shocker is a 1982 arcade maze-chase game, originally manufactured in Italy by E.G. Felaco under license from Domino. This release is a bootleg version of that original. You play as Dudley, “the world’s most dedicated line man,” whose job is to reconnect and recolor every wire in an octagonal telephone network without getting killed in the process.

How to Play

Guide Dudley around the wire network using the arrow keys, walking over each line to change its color until the whole network is complete. Two hazards patrol the board: hot spots that roam the wires and instantly zap Dudley on contact, and short circuits that flash briefly at the outlets around the outer edge. Gooney birds also get in the way — running into one won’t kill you, but it will briefly stun Dudley and cost you time.

Tips

• Hot spots move unpredictably around the network, so watch where they’re heading before committing to a wire rather than routing on a fixed pattern.
• Short circuits only flash briefly at the outer outlets, so it’s often safer to clear interior wires first and sweep the edges when they’re clear.
• A gooney bird only stalls you rather than costing a life, so if a collision is unavoidable, take the bird over a hot spot.
