Released as a Japanese exclusive in 1992 by Character Soft, Hello Kitty World is a colorful NES platformer that adapts the gameplay of the Game Boy title Balloon Kid. Starring the iconic Sanrio characters, the game trades traditional jumping for balloon-based flight. Players must navigate side-scrolling stages by carefully managing their altitude to avoid obstacles, pop enemies’ balloons, and safely reach the end of each level without plunging into the hazards below.
How to Play
Your objective is to fly through the side-scrolling stages by continuously flapping your balloons while avoiding enemies and environmental hazards. You can let go of your balloons to walk on solid ground when necessary, but you will need to pump them back up to resume flying.
- Arrow Keys: Move
- Z / X: Flap to fly higher / Detach balloons
- Enter: Start
- Shift: Select
Tips
- Repeatedly tap the flap button to maintain a steady altitude; holding or mashing it too fast can easily send you into ceiling spikes.
- If you are grounded and need to inflate new balloons, make sure the immediate area is clear of enemies, as the pumping animation leaves you completely vulnerable.
