Heavyweight Champ is a 1991 boxing game developed by Sanritsu for the Sega Master System. Despite sharing a name with Sega’s classic arcade titles, this release is actually a European rebranding of James “Buster” Douglas Knockout Boxing. It uses a traditional side-view perspective, delivering straightforward 8-bit boxing action where managing your distance and depleting your opponent’s stamina are the keys to a knockout.
How to play
Move your boxer forward and backward using the arrow keys. The Z and X keys are used to throw punches and block. Pressing down lets you crouch to avoid high attacks or target the body, which is essential for wearing down the opponent’s energy gauge.
