Game description:

Hit the slopes in Heavy Shreddin’, an early snowboarding sports game released for the NES in 1990 by Parker Brothers. You take on multiple challenging trails across a treacherous mountain, moving from downhill obstacle courses and tight slalom runs to the halfpipe. Notorious for its demanding difficulty and precise timing, it requires quick reflexes as you navigate past trees, rivers, and steep cliffs to reach the bottom before time runs out.

How to Play

Your objective is to navigate down the mountain through various events without wiping out or running out of time. The controls for this NES classic are mapped to your keyboard:

  • Arrow Keys (D-pad): Steer your snowboard, tuck for speed (Right), or stand up (Left).
  • Z (A Button): Jump over obstacles or perform stunts in mid-air.
  • X (B Button): Duck under low-hanging hazards.
  • Enter (Start): Start or pause the game.

Tips for Survival

  • Stunts are mandatory: Performing stunts isn’t just for points; you must use the A button (Z) combined with directional keys to successfully clear certain wide gaps and obstacles.
  • Follow the halfpipe prompts: When the game tells you to perform a specific trick in the halfpipe, do exactly that maneuver. Attempting extra or different tricks usually results in a crash.
  • Manage your speed: Just weaving around trees will slow you down too much to beat the strict time limits. You need to actively tuck (Right arrow) to build up the necessary speed on straightaways.
