Game description:

Developed by Micronet in 1992, Heavy Nova for the Sega Genesis is an ambitious sci-fi title that blends two distinct genres: 2D platforming and one-on-one fighting. You pilot a giant mech known as a “Heavy DOLL,” tasked with completing a series of combat missions to climb the military ranks. The game alternates between side-scrolling stages where you navigate space station environments and dedicated fighting-game encounters against boss mechs.

How to Play

Your goal is to survive the platforming sections and defeat the boss at the end of each stage. For the default Sega Genesis controls, use the D-pad to move and the A, B, and C buttons to strike, jump, and grapple (mapped to the arrow keys, Z, X, and C on your keyboard, with Enter for Start). Keep an eye on your energy meter, which dictates your movement and attack capabilities.

Tips

  • During boss encounters, rely on grappling moves rather than basic strikes. Traditional punches and kicks can be unreliable and may pass right through opponents.
  • Take your time in the platforming segments. They are slow-paced, and rushing will only drain your health before the critical boss fight.
  • Conserve your energy meter; without it, you will be unable to attack or defend effectively when you need it most.
