Grobda is an intense multi-directional arena shooter released for the Arcade in 1984. Originally appearing as an enemy in Namco’s classic Xevious, the titular Grobda tank takes center stage in this fast-paced spin-off. Players are dropped into enclosed battlefields and must survive against relentless waves of enemy tanks by outmaneuvering them and using the environment to their advantage.
How to Play
The objective is to clear each arena of all enemy machines. Your tank is equipped with rapid-fire cannons and a temporary force shield that can deflect incoming fire. Use the arrow keys to navigate the arena, press Z to fire your weapon, and press X to activate your shield.
Tips
- Enemies destroyed close to each other will trigger a chain reaction of explosions, which is highly effective for clearing crowds and earning bonus points.
- Explosions are a double-edged swordโif your tank is too close to a dying enemy, you will be caught in the blast and destroyed. Keep your distance when securing a kill!
- Your shield energy is limited and depletes quickly if held down or under heavy attack. Use it sparingly to deflect unavoidable shots rather than relying on it constantly.
