Grid Seeker: Project Storm Hammer is a vertically scrolling shoot ’em up released for the Arcade by Taito in 1992. You pilot an advanced fighter craft equipped with “Grid” satellites, fighting through intense enemy forces. The game stands out for its strategic bullet-absorbing mechanics, forcing you to use enemy fire to your advantage rather than just dodging it.
How to Play
Your main objective is to survive and destroy enemy forces across multiple stages. You can move your ship and fire your primary weapon. The unique element is the Grid satellites: they hover around your ship and can absorb most standard enemy bullets. Once the Grids absorb enough firepower, you can trigger a devastating bomb attack.
Default Arcade Controls:
- Arrow Keys: Move your ship
- Z, X: Fire weapons and trigger Grid attacks
- Shift / Enter: Insert Coin / Start
Tips
- Position your Grids: Learn how your movement affects the position of the Grid satellites. Keeping them in front of you creates an effective shield against incoming frontal assaults.
- Feed the Grids: Don’t just dodge everything. Actively use the Grids to sweep up enemy bullets so you can charge your special attacks faster.
- Save bombs for emergencies: The special attacks charged by your Grids are incredibly powerful and clear the screen. Save them for tight situations or tough boss encounters.
