Game description:

GP Rider is a 1990 racing game developed by Sega for the Game Gear. Bringing Sega’s arcade motorcycle racing pedigree to a portable format, players compete in grand prix races that demand track memorisation and precise cornering.

How to play

Your objective is to master each track and outpace the competition to secure first place. In the browser, the Game Gear’s directional pad is mapped to your arrow keys, with Z acting as Button 2 and X as Button 1. Press Enter to start or pause the game, and use F7 and F8 to save and load your state.

Tips

  • Track knowledge is crucial; you need to anticipate braking points rather than reacting to them as they appear.
  • Easing off the throttle early for a corner is almost always faster than skidding and fighting the bike mid-turn.
