The Goonies is an action-platformer originally released for the Famicom in Japan and later made available via the Famicom Disk System (Disk Writer) in 1987. Based on the classic 1985 film, you take control of Mikey as he explores caverns, abandoned hideouts, and pirate ships to rescue his trapped friends and uncover One-Eyed Willy’s hidden treasure.
How to Play
Your objective in each stage is to find three keys and rescue at least one Goonie hidden in safes behind sealed doors to unlock the exit. The original NES controls use the D-pad, A/B, and Start/Select, which are mapped to the Arrow Keys, Z/X, and Enter/Shift in your browser. Use the buttons to jump and perform a kick attack.
Tips
- You can place a bomb by pressing Down + Attack to blow open the sealed safe doors, but make sure to step back before they detonate to avoid taking blast damage.
- Mice enemies respawn infinitely and are a great source for farming bombs if you ever run out.
- Keep an eye out for hidden items like the earmuffs or raincoat, which protect you from specific hazards like singing enemies or water drops.
