Game description:

Gokinjo Boukentai is a Super Famicom RPG released in Japan in 1996 by Pioneer LDC. Developed by ITL and based on the manga by Masumi Sudou, the game follows a kindergarten girl named Mana who forms a “Neighborhood Adventure Group” to investigate strange occurrences in her modern suburban town. Often compared to EarthBound for its quirky tone and setting, the gameplay features a unique structure: you spend weekdays raising Mana’s stats through simulation-style activities, then use Sundays to explore the town and engage in traditional turn-based combat.

How to Play

Because the game is heavily story-driven and entirely in Japanese, it can be challenging to navigate without a translation guide. You control Mana and her party as they balance daily life with weekend monster hunting. The emulator uses standard Super Nintendo controls: use the Arrow Keys to move your characters, press X (mapped to the A button) to interact with objects and confirm actions in battle, and press Z (mapped to the B button) to cancel selections.

Tips

  • Manage your weekdays carefully: The stats you build during the week directly impact your performance in Sunday’s RPG segments, so balance her schedule according to the challenges ahead.
  • Talk to everyone: The charm of the game lies in its eccentric NPCs, who often provide clues for your weekend quests.
