Ghosts ‘n Goblins is a notoriously challenging action-platformer developed by Capcom, ported to the Game Boy Color. Players control the valiant knight Arthur on a perilous quest through demon-infested graveyards and fiery underworlds to rescue Princess Prin-Prin. Known for its punishing difficulty, this portable version faithfully recreates the relentless enemy spawns and tense jumping of the classic arcade original.
How to Play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage before the timer runs out while fending off zombies, flying knights, and other undead foes. Taking a hit shatters Arthur’s armor, leaving him in his underwear, and a second hit results in losing a life. To control Arthur, use the arrow keys to move and crouch. Press Z to jump and X to throw your equipped weapon, such as lances or daggers. Press Enter for Start and Shift for Select.
Tips
- The dagger is widely considered the best weapon in the game due to its fast travel speed and the ability to have multiple projectiles on screen at once.
- Enemies often spawn infinitely in certain areas, so focus on progressing forward carefully rather than trying to clear the screen.
- Red Arremers (the winged gargoyles) are incredibly evasive and dangerous; approach them slowly to trigger their movement and attack as they swoop down.
