Game description:

Gensou Suikoden, released in Japan for the PlayStation in 1995 by Konami, is the acclaimed origin of the beloved role-playing series. As the son of a prominent imperial general, players are swept into a sweeping rebellion against a corrupt empire. The game is celebrated for its deep political storyline, its unique magic rune system, and the ambitious quest to recruit the 108 Stars of Destiny to build an army and expand your headquarters.

How to Play

Players navigate towns, dungeons, and a world map, engaging in classic turn-based combat, one-on-one duels, and large-scale strategic army battles. In the web emulator, use the Arrow keys for the D-pad to move. Press Z, X, A, and S for the PlayStation face buttons (Cross, Square, Triangle, and Circle) to interact and navigate menus, with Enter as Start and Shift as Select.

Tips

  • Prioritize Recruiting: Your headquarters expands and gains new facilities as you recruit more of the 108 Stars of Destiny. Always explore towns for new characters before advancing the main story.
  • Sharpen Weapons: Character strength isn’t just about leveling up. Remember to visit blacksmiths to upgrade each character’s individual weapon.
  • Use Free Will: In standard random encounters, the “Free Will” command allows your party to auto-attack, which drastically speeds up battles against weaker enemies.
