Game description:

Gensou Suikoden II (released internationally as Suikoden II) is an iconic role-playing game developed by Konami and released for the PlayStation in 1998. Widely regarded as one of the greatest RPGs of its era, it features an emotionally charged narrative following two childhood friends caught on opposite sides of a devastating war. The game stands out with its massive roster of 108 recruitable characters (the Stars of Destiny), a rich political storyline, and satisfying sprite-based graphics that have aged beautifully.

How to Play

As the leader of the New State Army, you must build your headquarters, recruit allies from across the world, and lead your party in turn-based combat. Beyond the classic RPG battles, the game also features large-scale tactical army clashes and rock-paper-scissors style one-on-one duels. Controls: Arrow Keys (D-pad), Z (Cross), X (Circle), S (Triangle), A (Square), Enter (Start), and Shift (Select).

Tips

  • Look for allies: Many characters have specific windows of availability. Talk to everyone in towns and complete their quests to recruit them to your castle.
  • Use Unite Attacks: Characters with close ties have special combination attacks when placed in the same party. These deal massive damage and are crucial for boss fights.
  • Pace yourself: There is a strict real-time limit to complete Clive’s optional storyline. If you are playing for the first time, ignore the timer and focus on enjoying the journey.
