GB Genjin is a classic 1992 Game Boy platformer developed by Red Company and published by Hudson Soft, widely known outside of Japan as Bonk’s Adventure. It brings the prehistoric headbutting action of the popular console series to a portable screen, letting you play as a tough caveman who uses his massive head to smash enemies and chomp down on giant pieces of meat for powerful upgrades.
How to play
Your objective is to reach the end of each stage while surviving hazards and defeating dinosaur foes. The default Game Boy controls are mapped to your keyboard: use the Arrow Keys for the D-pad, Z and X for the A and B buttons (jump and attack), and Enter and Shift for Start and Select. Repeatedly press the attack button in the air to perform Bonk’s mid-air spin.
Tips
- Collect meat to enter an enraged state, which makes Bonk temporarily invincible and allows his headbutts to deal massive damage.
- Use the mid-air spin attack to slow your descent, allowing you to cross wider gaps and easily land on moving enemies.
- Bounce off the heads of multiple enemies in a row without touching the ground to reach higher platforms.
