Game description:

Garou Densetsu Special (known as Fatal Fury Special in the West) is a classic 1994 fighting game for the SNES, developed by Takara and SNK. Serving as an expanded update to Fatal Fury 2, it increases the battle speed, expands the roster to 15 playable characters by unlocking the previous bosses, and brings back fan-favorites like Duck King and Tung Fu Rue. The game retains the series' signature dual-plane fighting system, allowing combatants to seamlessly hop between the foreground and background during matches.

How to Play

Your goal is to win one-on-one martial arts tournament bouts by depleting your opponent's health bar in a best-of-three rounds format. As a standard SNES fighting game layout, use the D-pad to move, jump, and crouch. The face buttons control your attacks: map your browser inputs to Y for Light Punch, X for Heavy Punch, B for Light Kick, and A for Heavy Kick. The L and R shoulder buttons are used to dodge into the background or foreground plane.

Tips

  • Master Plane Switching: Use the L or R buttons not just to escape incoming projectiles, but to counter-attack; pressing a strike button while leaping between planes delivers a quick, hard-to-block hit.
  • Desperation Moves: When your health bar flashes red at the end of a round, input your character's specific command to unleash a massive, high-damage special attack that can turn the tide of the match.
  • Hidden Challenger: If you manage to defeat every opponent in single-player mode without losing a single round, you will face Ryo Sakazaki from Art of Fighting in a secret dream match.
