Gaplus (also known as Galaga 3) is a classic 1984 fixed shooter arcade game developed by Namco. Serving as the direct sequel to the legendary Galaga, this entry shakes up the classic formula by allowing players to move their ship vertically up to the halfway point of the screen, rather than being restricted to just left and right. The GP2 version represents a specific hardware revision of this fast-paced, quarter-eating classic, which introduces unique power-ups and much more aggressive alien swarms.
How to Play
Your objective is to clear out waves of insect-like aliens before they destroy your ship. This Arcade version is played via the browser emulator. Press Shift to insert a coin, and Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to move your ship in all four directions across the bottom half of the screen, and press Z, X, or Space to fire.
Tips
- Capture enemies for firepower: When a “Queen” alien dives at you carrying a Blaster Head part, shoot the Queen to drop the part onto your ship. This activates a tractor beam you can sweep across the screen to capture enemies and form a deadly phalanx alongside your ship.
- Use vertical space: Don’t just stay at the bottom edge. Moving up can help you dodge sweeping attacks and position your tractor beam to capture more aliens during a Blaster Head drop.
- Juggle in the bonus stages: Unlike Galaga where you simply shoot formations, the bonus stages here require you to juggle enemies in the air with your shots to spell out words like “BONUS” or “EXTEND” for massive points.
