Galaga is the iconic fixed shooter released by Namco in 1981 for arcade cabinets. As the sequel to Galaxian, players pilot a starfighter at the bottom of the screen to destroy insect-like alien fleets that assemble and dive in complex, swooping formations.

How to Play

Survive as long as possible and earn high scores by clearing each stage of enemies. To begin, use Shift to insert a coin, then press Enter to start. Use the Left and Right arrow keys to maneuver your ship along the bottom edge, and press the main action button (typically Z, X, or Space) to fire.

Tips

• Dual Fighters: If a Boss Galaga (the green aliens at the top) uses its tractor beam to capture your ship, you can rescue it with your next life. Destroying the Boss Galaga while it dives with your captured ship will link them together, doubling your firepower but making you a wider target.
• Challenging Stages: Memorize the flight paths during the bonus stages. Destroying all 40 enemies grants a massive 10,000-point bonus.
• Safe Formations: Enemies don’t drop bombs or dive aggressively while flying into their initial grid formation. Use this time to pick off as many as possible.
