Galaga (Midway Set 2) is a variant of the legendary 1981 fixed shooter released for arcades. In this classic sequel to Galaxian, players control a lone starfighter defending against swarms of alien insectoids that dive in intricate, looping formations.
How to play
The objective is to clear each stage of enemies while avoiding their dive attacks and projectiles. Move your ship left and right to dodge, and fire to destroy the invaders. The arcade controls translate to using the arrow keys for movement and the Z or X key to shoot. Press Shift or Enter to insert coins and start.
Tips
The most iconic mechanic is the dual fighter. Let a Boss Galaga (the large green enemies at the top) capture your ship with its tractor beam. Then, shoot the Boss Galaga with your next ship while it is diving to rescue the captured fighter, doubling your firepower. Be careful not to shoot your own captured ship.
