Galaga ’88 is a classic fixed shooter developed by Namco and released for arcades in 1987. As the fourth entry in the Galaxian series, it takes the familiar alien-swarming gameplay of Galaga and expands it with detailed new graphics, branching dimensional paths, and an upbeat soundtrack. Along with the traditional capture-and-rescue mechanic to form a Dual Fighter, players can now collect Warp Capsules or rescue another captured ship to build the powerful Triple Fighter.
How to Play
Your objective is to destroy waves of insect-like alien formations and clear each stage while avoiding enemy fire and collisions. To play in the browser, press Shift to insert a coin and Enter to start. Use the Arrow Keys to move your ship left and right, and press Z or X to fire.
Tips
- Collect Warp Capsules: Grabbing two blue capsules allows you to warp to the next dimension at the end of a stage, increasing both the difficulty and your score potential.
- Form the Triple Fighter: Let a Boss Galaga capture a Dual Fighter, then carefully shoot the boss to rescue it. The resulting Triple Fighter covers much more of the screen and makes clearing waves significantly easier.
