G.I. Joe is a 1992 arcade rail shooter developed by Konami, based on the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero animated series. Up to four players choose from Duke, Snake-Eyes, Scarlett, and Roadblock, blasting through waves of Cobra soldiers, vehicles, and fortified bases along an automatically scrolling path, aiming a crosshair rather than moving the character freely around the screen.
How to Play
The objective is to shoot down every Cobra trooper, vehicle, and turret in your path before your health runs out. Arrow keys move your Joe left or right and aim the crosshair, Z fires your rifle, which has unlimited ammo and can be upgraded into a wider, auto-firing crosshair, and X throws one of your two flash bombs, which clear every enemy on screen at once. Insert coins with Shift and press Enter to start.
Tips
- Save your flash bombs for when the screen fills up with soldiers or a boss shows up — they wipe out everything on screen at once, and you only start with two.
- Shoot power-up crates whenever you see them; they’re the only way to earn extra health, rockets, and the auto-fire rifle upgrade.
- All four playable Joes control identically with the same attack power and hitbox, so pick whichever character you like the look of — there’s no mechanical advantage to any of them.
