🎮 Play Front Line Online (NES)

Front Line is a top-down vertical-scrolling action game from Taito, first released in arcades in 1982 and later ported to the NES. You command a lone soldier advancing through enemy-held territory, shooting infantry with your rifle and lobbing grenades at tanks as you fight toward an enemy fort at the top of the map.

How to play

Move in eight directions with the arrow keys. Press X (A button) to fire your rifle — effective against enemy soldiers but useless against armoured vehicles. Press Z (B button) to throw a grenade, which is the only weapon that can damage tanks. Grenade a tank to disable it, then walk into it to commandeer it; inside a tank you can fire shells and absorb extra punishment before being ejected. Destroy the enemy fort at the top of the map with grenades to complete the stage — then the route repeats at higher difficulty.

Tips

• Your rifle has no effect on tanks whatsoever. Grenade them first, then board the disabled vehicle for a significant firepower upgrade.
• Keep moving — stopping in place makes you an easy target for the infantry and gunners spread across the map.
